The Cyprus Investment Program

The Cyprus investment program offers investors the opportunity to enjoy all the benefits of an EU national, including the right to reside, work, and study in any EU member state as well as Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.  Our relevant services include:

Visas and Permits for Non – EU Nationals

 

A. Cyprus Permanent Residency scheme (Fast Track)

Individuals who wish to relocate to Cyprus and have no intention to work in Cyprus can now benefit from the fast track permanent residence scheme, provided that they fulfill the specific requirements and criteria. Following the application to the Civil Registry and Migration Department, the Permanent Residency in issued in just three to four months.

B. Short Stay Visa (Visitor’s Permit)

If the purpose of the Non EU applicant’s travel to Cyprus is for vacation or business and will remain to the republic for less than three months, an application for a short stay visa must be submitted. The short stay visa can be a single entry visa or a multiple entry one. If the applicant will be visiting Cyprus regularly, a multiple entry visa for one year can be obtained whereby the total visits in one year must not exceed a total of 90 days.

C. Temporary Residency Permit 

In case that a third country national wishes to stay in Cyprus for more than 90 days or intends to visit Cyprus for longer periods without employment rights, a temporary residency permit must be obtained.  The temporary permit is issued for one year and can be renewed. An applicant who has obtained the temporary residency permit is not allowed to work in Cyprus and cannot be out of Cyprus for a period longer than four months.

Employment of Third County nationals by a Cyprus company with EU shareholders

All Cyprus companies of EU interests are allowed to employ third country nationals, up to 30% of their total employee number, with no investment requirement.

Employment of Third County nationals by Cyprus companies with foreign, non-EU shareholders

 

All Cyprus companies of foreign interests are allowed to employ third country nationals in key and managerial positions, provided that they deposit €171,000 as capital in a Cyprus bank account.  There is a minimum salary requirement for such positions which ranges from €23,640 to €46,680, depending on the position.

Registration of EU Citizens and their family members

EU Citizens entering Cyprus to work or live and who intend to spend more than three months on the island, must be registered with the Migration Department of Cyprus in order to acquire their Yellow Slip. Their family members (spouse and children under 18) can also be registered and acquire the Registration Certificate as dependants of the Applicant.  Non-EU family members of an EU Citizen are also eligible for obtaining a registration certificate.

Re-domiciliation of Foreign Companies in Cyprus

Cyprus allows re-domiciliation of foreign companies into its companies’ registry.  As a result, a lot of opportunities are created for international businesses in the sense that they can re-domicile their foreign companies to Cyprus and thus take advantage of the favorable features of the Cyprus international business regime.  The procedure is fairly straight forward and our office undertakes the whole procedure from beginning to end.  For a foreign company to re-domicile to Cyprus the following prerequisites must be met:

• The legislation of the country of origin must allow the re-domiciliation to other countries

• The Memorandum and Articles of Association of the specific company must provide for the re-domiciliation to other countries

• The company has to appoint a local, approved representative who will deal with the re-domiciliation process
